The ‘Big Lawn’ is coming to Texas!
Big Lawn, a popular outdoor dining venue, is moving to Texas.
The Austin-based restaurant chain announced plans to move to a more central location in Midtown Austin next year.
The Big Lawn will be located in the space formerly occupied by the Big Apple’s new Starbucks location.
Big Lawn is owned by J.W. Marriott, a company that operates the popular Blue Bottle coffee chain.
The new location will feature a bar, a restaurant, and an indoor courtyard, the company said.
The restaurant will be open to the public during the summer months.
“We’ve made the move because we’re committed to being more open to our community, our community-supported enterprises, and our local business owners,” J.J. Marriott said in a statement.
“As the new home for the Big Lawn we’ll continue to build upon our existing restaurant and bar offerings, which will include a variety of food options.
We’re excited to open a second location that will continue to serve the Austin community, including Big Lawn’s customers, with an upscale dining experience.”
The Big Board is one of the oldest restaurants in the country and has a long history in Austin.
The chain’s original location in Austin’s Little Italy neighborhood opened in 1955.
Today, the chain has locations in the greater Austin area and Austin’s downtown.
The iconic Big Board, located on Westheimer Avenue in downtown Austin, is one the oldest dining establishments in the world.
